The cover image is from the Research paper by Binker et al. p. 1091 and is available online only, see http://ep.physoc.org/content/vol93/issue10; it shows a common and systemic complication of acute pancreatitis in acute lung injury, which frequently evolves to acute respiratory distress syndrome. In experimental cerulein-induced mouse pancreatitis the lung histopathological features involve oedema, leukocyte infiltration, congested capillaries and haemorrhage as seen in this imagewhich presents considerable haemorrhage as the most outstanding characteristic.
